The Role
As a Museum Experience Intern, you’ll support the day-to-day operations of the museum, gaining hands-on experience in customer service, visitor experience, ticketing, retail, and operations. Working closely with the Experience Manager and the wider Nxt Museum Team, you’ll help ensure a smooth and engaging visit for our audience..
With a focus on merchandise, you’ll contribute to developing, managing, and improving our retail offering as part of the overall museum experience. This role is ideal for someone who is curious, proactive, and interested in how cultural organisations operate behind the scenes.
What you can expect
Visitor Experience & Operations
Support the Experience Team in organising daily operations on the museum floor;
Assist with ticketing support and customer service;
Help manage and maintain ticketing processes, including scanning, troubleshooting, and basic back-end support;
Contribute to a smooth and welcoming visitor journey.
Merchandise (Focus Area)
Support the management of merchandise inventory and stock levels;
Assist in developing and improving the merchandise offering;
Help track sales performance and identify opportunities for optimisation;
Contribute to display, presentation, and the overall retail experience.
Processes & Coordination
Support internal workflows while learning to use project management tools such as Asana;
Assist with coordinating requests related to events, education, and programming;
Help maintain clear and organised workflows within the Experience Team.
Who we are looking for
You are currently studying or recently graduated in a relevant field (e.g. arts, cultural management, business, or similar);
You are organised, detail-oriented, and proactive;
You have an interest in retail, merchandise, or commercial aspects of cultural spaces;
You have an interest in or affinity with hospitality and/or visitor experience;
You are comfortable working in a dynamic, operational environment;
You communicate clearly in English (Dutch is a plus);
You are based in or near Amsterdam;
You hold a valid EU work permit for the full duration of the internship.

Practical details
Compensation: €425 per month, based on a full-time commitment (40 hours/week)
Commitment: 32-40 hours/week
Duration: 5-6 months
Start date: preferably in May
